Our Privacy Policy

The Remedy Project Limited (“TRP”) shall ensure that all personal data provided to us is handled in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) (“PDPO“). 

 1.            What is personal data?

1.1.        A person’s personal data includes his/her name, job title, company name, contact details (such as his/her email, telephone and fax numbers), and any other information which would allow the person to be identified (directly or indirectly), the event(s) or programs the person has participated in, or wishes to participate in, the areas of interest the person has indicated, reviews, feedback and opinions and any other personal information the person has provided to us. 

2.            Why is TRP collecting personal data?

2.1.        TRP may collect and retain personal data for one or more of the following purposes including, but not limited to:

(a)        the provision of services for donations, sponsorship, events, programs and volunteers through the TRP website or any other means (including enquiries, and provision of any related payment, identification, registration, billing);

(b)        administration, management and communications purposes including surveys, feedback collection and research, whether via mail, e-mail, telephone, SMS, fax or online etc.;

(c)         the provision of updates and direct marketing (via fax, e-mail, direct mail, telephone or other means of communication including social media online, or e-newsletters) in relation to TRP programs, research, courses, volunteer opportunities, workshops and events, promotions, offers, opportunities for sponsorship, networking and donations, advocacy campaigns, opinion sharing, news updates, information and other related services or benefits provided by TRP and/or other partners or organizations; and

(d)        any purpose relating to or in connection with compliance with any law, regulation, court order or order of a regulatory body.

2.2.        TRP may transfer of such data to any place outside of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“HKSAR”) for any of the above purposes.

3.            Security of personal data and disclosure 

3.1.        All personal data will be kept strictly confidential and secure. 

3.2.        TRP will not divulge, sell, trade or rent personal data collected to any third parties for their own use except that TRP may disclose or transfer personal data where such disclosure is necessary to fulfil any of the purposes for which it was collected, or a directly related purpose (including without limitation debt collection or payment services, telecommunications, IT and computer services, marketing, communications, distribution or other services).

3.3.        TRP will use all personal data collected only for the purposes for which it was collected. 

3.4.        Notwithstanding anything in this Policy, for the purposes set out at clause 2.1 above, and subject to applicable law, your personal data may be:

(a)        transferred or otherwise made available to relevant personnel of TRP, as well as researchers and collaborative partners of Remedy Project, both within the HKSAR and outside of the HKSAR;

(b)        provided to third parties when contained in marketing materials or when providing third parties with employee contact details for promotional or administrative purposes;

(c)         provided to third parties who provide services to TRP such as MPF providers or managers, insurance companies, bankers, trustees, hotline administrators, legal advisors, auditors, medical practitioners, and any consultants or agents of Remedy Project who assist with the administration of employee benefits; 

(d)        provided to any governmental department or regulatory body in the HKSAR or overseas where such disclosure is required by applicable law;

(e)        provided to any other person as required by law; and

(f)         provided to any actual or proposed purchaser of the business (or part of the business) of The Remedy Project and its legal advisers or, in the case of a share acquisition, the purchaser or subscriber of shares in Remedy Project and its legal advisers.

4.            Access to Data

4.1.        Anyone may write to TRP to request access to any of their personal data held by us, correct the personal data, or request that we cease to use such personal data at any time. A charge may be imposed to cover the cost of photocopying personal data to accede to such a request.  Data access or correction requests should be addressed to us in writing to The Remedy Project Limited at the contact address below. 

4.2.        Anyone may opt out of receiving marketing communications at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions contained in the marketing communications or contacting us with the person’s full name and contact details. 

4.3.        Individuals in the EU also have the right to lodge a complaint about the processing of their personal data with their local data protection authority. 

5.            Amendment to this Policy

5.1.        TRP reserves the right to update, revise, modify or amend this Privacy Policy from time to time as TRP deems necessary so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the Website.
